Victron GlobalLink 520

The GlobalLink 520 enhances connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT) applications with its advanced 4G LTE-M feature, a low-energy cellular technology that enables devices to connect to existing 4G towers. LTE Cat-M1, or LTE-M, facilitates seamless handovers and roaming, making it an ideal choice for mobile environments such as campervans. To verify LTE-M availability in your area, refer to the GlobalLink 520 manual, noting that coverage is continuously expanding as more local providers offer support. This device includes 5 years of connectivity, eliminating the need for separate data bundles and SIM cards.

In terms of system monitoring and control, the GlobalLink 520 is equipped with two communication ports, allowing for direct connection to up to two VE.Direct devices, such as a BMV Battery Monitor or an MPPT Solar Charge Controller, for integration into the Victron Remote Management (VRM) platform. Additionally, compatible Victron Smart products can be linked via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). With two digital inputs doubling as pulse counters and a remotely controllable relay, the GlobalLink 520 offers a comprehensive solution for monitoring and controlling your installation.

The device features a built-in antenna optimized for global operation. For instances requiring enhanced reception, such as installations within utility vans, an external antenna can be mounted to improve connectivity.

RuuviTag temperature sensors are now supported by the GlobalLink 520, connecting via BLE for a straightforward setup through VictronConnect. This integration allows direct access in VRM to a wide range of data collected by the RuuviTag sensors, including temperature, humidity, and air pressure.

Victron’s Remote Management (VRM) portal grants remote access to your system from anywhere, at any time. VRM enables users to monitor the status of connected products, review extensive historical data, generate in-depth analytical reports, and set up automatic alarms to alert users of any issues, ensuring a comprehensive and user-friendly experience in managing and optimizing energy systems.
