Energy Meters play a crucial role in Energy Storage Systems by monitoring the power and energy across the entire setup, including the distribution box. They help in optimizing the balance between energy consumption and production, thereby reducing unnecessary grid energy import or export. Additionally, they can track the performance of PV inverters or AC loads, with the capability to showcase this information on GX devices like the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, as well as on the VRM Portal.

Victron offers a variety of Energy Meter models to suit different needs:

• Victron VM-3P75CT Energy Meter: Designed for three-phase systems, this model comes with Ethernet and VE.Can connectivity, includes CTs (current transformers), and supports up to 80A per phase.
• ET112: Suitable for single-phase applications, this meter supports up to 100A and utilizes RS485 for communication.
• ET340: A three-phase meter supporting up to 65A, with RS485 connectivity.
• EM24 Ethernet: Another option for three-phase systems, this meter supports up to 65A and uses Ethernet for its connectivity.
• EM540: This RS485-based meter is designed for three-phase systems, allowing up to 65A.

The Victron VM-3P75CT energy meter is an essential tool for measuring power and energy in both single- and three-phase systems, such as those found in distribution boxes or for tracking the output from PV Inverters, AC Gensets, or inverter/charger units. This meter excels in providing real-time power data, calculating RMS power values for each phase and transmitting these at a high refresh rate over VE.Can or Ethernet. This ensures precise tracking of power consumption, grid import, and grid feed-in activities, particularly beneficial for Energy Storage Systems (ESS).

Designed for simplicity, the VM-3P75CT allows for straightforward integration into most systems, offering a plug-and-play solution as a grid meter. Fine-tuning the meter’s role (whether as a Grid Meter, PV Inverter, AC Genset, or AC Load Meter) and adjusting IP settings (from DHCP to manual, if necessary) is easily done through the VictronConnect app.

Remote monitoring is seamless with the VM-3P75CT, as its data can be accessed on the VictronConnect App, displayed on GX devices like the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, and viewed through the VRM Portal, enabling oversight from anywhere.

The installation process is made effortless with the inclusion of snap-on type current transformers, allowing for accurate current sensing without the need for altering existing wiring setups. Additionally, the meter employs a vector registration method to aggregate the vectors of each phase (L1, L2, and L3), ensuring comprehensive and accurate energy measurement across the system.
